…Socka Castle (Einod) was already referred to as a manor in the 15th century. In 1404, a land register from Krško reports that the estate with the castle, 12 farms, five vineyards and two houses was leased by Popel Vitanjski, Ivan Slovenjegraški and his brother Kunz Winther. In the following centuries, the castle changed many tenants and owners and, through reconstructions, changed its appearance. Older residents of Socka still remember its last owner, the Englishman Walter Dickin, to this day.

Between 1909 and 1912, Walter Dickin completely renovated the castle and turned it into a modern and luxurious residence. The family mostly lived in Vienna in winter and spent summers at Socka Castle. Walter Dickin, who worked as a banker in Bucharest, traveled between Vienna, Socka and Bucharest…
